Infinite Miracles

My irritating bus buddy of the day. Sometimes he is so annoying that I feel like pushing him and make him fall flat on to the cow dung. Not only me, Mindee agrees too. =P

Halfway we stopped at a small town to stretch our legs and go for toilet break. At the same time, everyone got their breakfast from this bakery.

After 2.5hours, we arrived at the Lang family dairy farm located at a place called Tatura. The minute I stepped out of the bus I was like, omg..... I totally forgotten about the cow shit smell! Swt! But luckily after awhile I got used to it and can't smell it anymore. Lol. Look at the dairy cows!

The weather was amazing for the field trip! Clear blue sky with the smell of the sun plus abit of the winter breeze. When the farmer was talking, the cows kept moo-ing at the same time. So cute! Haha. The farmer is a young man who just graduated from La Trobe last year. Now he's helping his father to manage one of the two farms.

Glad that we bought gumboots. They came in super handy. When Mindee and I were shopping for gumboots yesterday at Northland, we bumped into a few familiar people who were looking for gumboots for this field trip too. Lol! As there's only one shop selling gumboots, even the lady in the shop said: "why are there so many people looking for gumboots today?" Haha.

These are Italian ryegrass and clovers. First time ever I like reading about plants. Now I can make the statement clearer: I have zero interest in knowing any plants in the world except for pasture plants.

More cows!! The Lang farms were rated the No. 1 dairy business in Australia and New Zealand last year. O.O! Can compete with the Kiwis!

After lunch, we took another hour to reach the second farm, the Ault farm which is located at Rochester. Once we arrived, a super excited border collie ran out from the farm at full speed to greet us happily. She came to everyone of us to get the attention. So cute.

And very distracting at the same time too as we just wanted to play with her. Lol. Wish I could see a border collie herding.

The cows were looking at us walking into their territory. So cute!

They've got a patch of hair on top of their head. Lol.

This cow was protecting her calf. The border collie tried to go near them but got scared away by the mother cow. The calf is sooooo cute!!

That's all for the dairy farm trip. It's quite fun. Just that the long journey made it a bit bored and time consuming. Another 2.5 hours journey or a bit more to go back to uni because of peak hour. @@" Can't wait for the next trip!

One day we got to build those nesting boxes for possums, sugar gliders, parrots and other birds. It's my first time using drills, and it was quite fun though it's a bit hard to build a perfect box. Somehow I couldn't rotate this picture, so need to tilt the head a little bit to see it. Haha.

We also used a camera to look into the boxes to check the animals inside. Every one of the props are heavy. I only carried the battery in the backpack and 1.5 hours of walking was enough to kill my shoulders. This was what we saw in the flatscreen portable tv. It's a possum! So cuteee!!

Kangaroo!

This is my Japanese coursemate, Kazuma. Can see that tiny kangaroo on his hand? Lol.

Our lunch: kitsune udon.

Kazuma taught me the Japanese way of eating noodles, which is the noisy way. I did it only 2 times and then I was back to the polite way of eating, because it's too hot and messy. Swt.

 One of the thing I learnt in this work experience is don't ever eat any wild mushrooms as they are poisonous. Feel sad for mushroom lovers especially myself. Fungus, why are you poisonous?? =(
We also did some planting, which is the least interesting thing to do. There's another girl from Swinburne uni told us that botanists don't like it when you say "we are putting the plants into the dirt", they will reply saying: "no you are not, you are putting the plants into the SOIL". Haha.

Everyday I got back home I just wanted to lie on the bed and sleep straight away to rest my tired muscles. This was why my blog was neglected for so long. Finally I can be lazy for 2 full days before my final semester starts.

This is Ju Lin, the birthday girl. She's doing Masters in Biotech. I met her through hosting last year. And for some reasons, she doesn't know how to use chopsticks. Lol. Her personality also sort of support the saying "the more you study, the less common sense you have". Haha. Should test that hypothesis.

Because this dinner was a week ago, I kinda forgot what was this called. I think it's kimchi stew bean curd. Very nice.

Marinated beef. Beef is much better than any other meat in BBQ.
So full. We have got 7 people and we still can over order. Lol. This restaurant is very nice and can come back for more next time. Hehe.

Then, suddenly I heard some sound. Like some vibrations of the things around me. Then I put my feet flat on the floor, only I managed to feel the shake. I was like "Ooooo.... earthquake!" and I still calmly sitting there, waiting for other people to come and confirm whether was it an earthquake or just imagination. Lol. Very slow response to earthquake indeed. The magnitude was 5.3. One of my housemate was walking back home and couldn't feel it and she was very upset about it. @@"
