22 with Forever-16 Look

Just realised this is only my second post of the month. Lol. I've been up to nothing special so far. All I'm doing is just working on my research project in uni from 8-6pm everyday. I always take the first bus to and the last bus  from AgriBio, until the driver also starts to chat with me everyday. Haha.

Ok! I know all of you are expecting this post already. I've just turned another year older and I totally don't feel like 22 at all with my same old 'Forever 16' dressing style. Lol. I think those 16 years old teenagers now look even more aunty than me. XD

So I had my birthday dinner at Chapellis, located at South Yarra. South Yarra is a nice place to walk and look around because it's an upmarket place with all the shops selling designer's brand clothes, and where the rich people live in big houses.

I've got MD and Yugo, from Nagano, Japan, celebrating with me. At this time, a couple of our friends have already balik kampung for good since graduation. So, only few of us left in our friend circle.

Our entree: half a dozen oysters with bacon. Should have ordered a dozen. Lol.

I usually don't post my face up, but I want to show my cool Neyo's hat that I got from Myers during year end sales. Nice? So RnB-ish. Haha. By the way, I've already dressed quite decently as requested by MD. If she didn't urge me to dress properly, I would have turned up in t-shirt and track bottom and she's so gonna whack me. Hahaha...

After that, we went for a walk by the river side near Crown. The weather was awesome with the cool night breeze. It's also Good Friday, so Crown was filled with people as there will be a long weekend coming.

We went to watch the fire. It's been awhile since the last time I saw it, which was about 6 years ago during my vacation with my parents.

No matter how cold the weather is, you can always feel the heat wave whenever the fire comes up and warm up your body for a few seconds.

Camwhore time. This is the only spot we could find that has sufficient light for camwhore because flash is making us look like 'kiong si' (chinese zombie).

I always look like a dwarf beside him. Swt. And I am loving my LeSportsac bag. XD

So the in next picture, he was forced to shrink himself to our level. Looks better. Lol.

Before I end this post, I must post some of Bun Bun's photos as I cannot resist his cuteness! Allow me to present our Easter bunny, Bun Bun!

So there goes my 22nd birthday. Though it's not as fancy as Jake's Charbroil steakhouse, but a nicer-than-usual dinner is good enough according to my family's tradition. Haha. Lastly, Happy Birthday to myself and also Happy Easter! =D

Little celebs in the zoo

My first day back at the zoo after my break has been an awesome one. There's actually a new arrival in the zoo early this year and I didn't have the chance to see it before I went back for holidays. Ahh... I missed the cuteness.

So tadaa!! This is the new little celebrity in the zoo. This picture was taken by the keepers very early in the morning. And it's a boy!


On my first guiding day, the crowd was not as massive as before. So I took this opportunity and quickly snapped some photos of the baby.

Can see the baby? His mom was teaching him how to flick some sand on to his back. So cute! The teenage elephant behind it is his sister, Mali. The other big elephant in front is Mali's mom. At the moment, the baby still doesn't have a name. Few Thai names have been selected and it's up to the people to vote for their favorite name.

All the young elephants have the same father but different mothers. This is Mali's another small brother, Ongard. I've been watching him playing with the tyre the whole morning. Toooo cute!! His little tusks are visible now, which make it easier to differentiate between him and Mali. Before this, I always looked at their tails to identify who is who. Haha. Ongard used to be afraid of water when he was a baby. I still remember how he ran for his life when the keeper tried to splash a bucket of water at him. Omg.. that was so funny!! Hahaha. But he loves to swim in the pool now. Lol.

That's all for the elephants. The next one I want to talk about is our all time favourite, Timon! Meerkats are altruistic. So you will always see one or more of them acting as sentries to look out for danger while others foraging and playing. And it's what this fella was doing in the picture. He was so high up on the bush and so close to me, so I cannot not take a picture of him. Lol.

Melbourne's weather never obeys the rule. It's still hot like summer when it's supposed to be autumn now. Where else can you find an autumn that is even hotter than in Malaysia? Look. Even they are already fed up with the heat. I should add a caption in this picture saying "pang-nangs-nya~~~". (that's how my bro says very hot) Hahahaha...

There are more babies in the zoo. Out of five baby meerkats, I managed to see two of them running around. They are only few weeks old and they are soooo tiny! Look at its size! So cute!

When are they getting a Pumbaa?? Hehe.

The band was getting ready for twilight concert. Although I can get free tickets but I haven't been to one yet as I'm still waiting for musical bands that suit my taste. Sometimes they have got orchestras which I missed out. Ahh...


That's my zoo updates for this time. Now back to my work. And autumn ah..... where are you??

Back to the grind

After a month of silence, finally I'm back! My 3 weeks holidays back home were barely enough. There's so many things that kept me occupied and they're definitely much more interesting than my laptop. This time, I actually don't find Malaysia that hot anymore after my above 40 degrees Celsius oven experience in Australia. However, I still don't like the humidity. Cannot breathe! Anyway, I made the most of my 3 weeks except that I didn't manage to eat ALL the food in my list. My 'lou shue fun' ah! And my 'tau fu fa' ah! Also my mee rebus and 'yau char guai' ah!! Noooo..... =( I think angmo also wonder why Malaysians always talk about food. Lol.

I'm back to uni once again, but this year will be so different. I don't sit in the lecture hall anymore, nor do I get half day classes. Instead, I'll be going to a new research building and work on my project from 9-5pm everyday. I got my own desk and a working table in the lab. It's similar to an office and it feels more like I'm going to work rather than going to uni. Lol. 

In my uni, there's a campus bus that goes round the campus to transport people from one part of the campus to another. During my undergrad years, I never had the need to take this bus. Now, because the building is located at the other end of the campus, I finally have the chance to fully utilize this campus bus. I only need to walk half the distance, then hop on to this bus and it will take me straight to the building. How awesome! Haha. Even the driver can recognise me now. Lol.

My first week back here has been driving me up the wall. Besides catching up with the sessions that I've missed out, at the same time, my laptop was having PMS. I was so worried that I really have to bring it to someone to fix it, and I'll be laptop-less for days (I can't work without my laptop), but luckily it recovered and everything went back to normal now. Phew... Another thing that kept me running around was the last step of my enrolment. Was still wondering why my statement of account and my online learning website was not updated. After I've submitted my last enrolment form PLUS an extra email to 'blow' them to get mine done as soon as possible because I was desperate to gain access to my subjects on the website. Man.... they are truly efficient. They did put me on top of the list despite there were hundreds other International students who enrolled on the same day. So I got mine settled within 2 days instead of 1 week. Haha.

For some reason I got 2 days off and I'm glad to have a bit of rest after a messed up week. I get to have some time to visit my blog and also some candy crushing. Hehe. It's also the last day of summer! Finally! Felt like the summer this time is going on forever. So, say goodbye to summer and please welcome the most awesome season of the year, autumn! =D

Sambal Kampung

Went down to city with an extremely noisy stomach. And so..... what first came to mind was hometown food!! MD brought me to a Malaysian restaurant called Sambal Kampung located at Little Bourke Street. One funny thing that I found was the waitress who took our order. She's just like a robot. I can even describe the process precisely:

Step 1: She walked to our table. Looked at MD. MD ordered.
Step 2: She turned her head 150 degrees to the right. Looked at me. I ordered.
Step 3: She took our menus.
Step 4: She turned her body 180 degrees.
Step 5: She walked away.

As simple and as quiet as that. She also served our food to our table without uttering a single word. Ooo... not only are the food Malaysian, the service provided is also Malaysian, typical mamak style some more. Got a bit of reverse culture shock. Lololol.

Nasi lemak with beef rendang. The beef was very tender and it's just nice because I didn't get any meat stuck in between my teeth. This is not an egg-less nasi lemak. I was just too hungry, so the egg was already in my belly before I could remember to take a photo of it. 

Sambal kampung fried rice. Nice until we drool. I don't know how to describe the taste. It was very very familiar but I can't remember where I tasted it before. 

After shutting up our tummy, it's time to watch the hot guys tennis match: Tomic vs Federer. Can't believe Federer is just a few kilometers away from us. Lol.

Federer won! And this is what a crazy Federer fan will do: snap a close up picture of him on tv and assume she's the camera woman on the spot. Swt.

Williamstown

Traveled to Williamstown on a ferry with a group of genius (not me, I'm still noob), who talk about parasites 80% of the time, to have a farewell lunch for one of them. The ferry departed from Southgate and surfed along the Yarra River, heading towards the sea.

City view from far. It's a really cooling day without any sunshine at all. Finally I can turn back into a polar bear for once this summer. Hehe.

 After about 50 minutes, we arrived at Gem Pier, Williamstown. It was built by the convicts during the 19th century and the ships used to load or unload goods from overseas at this pier because it wasn't convenient to navigate through the Yarra River in those days.

Since we arrived a bit early, we wandered around until lunch time.

Then we had our lunch at the Ocean Thai restaurant. And I guess I pointed at the wrong food when the waiter was taking my order. The food that came out looked like the one below the curry that I actually wanted to order in the menu. But anyway, it's still nice though. Lol. Blur case....

Well, as you may have already noticed, I hardly put up photos that you can see my face directly in these past 2 years. Today... I actually wanted to post up my up-to-date-look. However, the waitress didn't seem to support this statement by standing at a very cacated (retarded) angle when taking our group photo. Ended up only a quarter of my face is visible. LOL!! Mou lek....

Stone will be going back to China for good to complete his PhD.

Heading back on a nicer ferry. We can sit outside and look at the scenery while enjoying the breeze.

These two hyper kids keep asking the passerby to wave at them. Their reaction was a bit funny when the people waved back. Most people waved back though. Lol.

It's a bit of a thrill ride when we were going under a low bridge like this. Can knock off your head if you don't sit or bend down.


Finally, we're back in the city. Loving the weather to the max.

And I don't feel sleepy at all because of this weather. XD
