9th of September has finally arrived! Even the date has the same pronunciation as "dog" in cantonese. It's our first Dogathon in La Trobe Uni! And also the first event that I organised. I was so nervous until I can feel my heart pumping out. This is an event to raise funds for Guide Dogs Victoria as it costs about $30 000 to breed, raise and train one puppy to be a guide dog. They only receive 7% government funding and none of which is provided to cover that cost.
The uni used this picture to advertise in La Trobe Facebook page saying: La Trobe Dogathon on this Sunday! (How come they never have Cat-athons? Wait. Don't answer that.) Lol!
The puppy raisers came along with their future guide dogs to set up a stall. These two puppies were running around happily on the big lawn while we were setting up. So cute!!
I love this picture sooooo much!! Just like Shadow and Max!! =D
Holding on to my friend's cavalier king charles spaniel while she's getting herself registered. His name is Chester and he is as chubby as a pillow. So cuteee!!!
A very furry golden retriever.
The people are coming!
And we were so glad to have this kind of weather as the weather for the last whole week was horrible.
Walking around the campus. I was walking at the back and so happy to see no signs of dog poo along the way. Aussie dog owners are really different. =D
This puppy just lay down straight after the walk. Didn't even want to wake up no matter how we shake him/her. Lol. So cute!!
The stall selling some pretty GDV merchandises.
There's also a big tub of water for the dogs.
And they seemed to love it too much. LOL!
Dog obedience game.
And here's the boss.
This is Wendy and her gentle giant, Wilfull. Can't remember what type of mixed breed but he is so attractive from far as he looks like a big sheep.
With the guide dogs.
The puppy raisers. All of them volunteer for GDV to raise the guide dogs.
The event turned out to be quite good and the people enjoyed themselves too. We have raised about $400 from this event. Not too bad for the first time though the first time is always the hardest. Phew..... Finally, our project is done! We are now the pioneers for La Trobe Dogathon. Haha... Now I just have to sit here and wait for the Infinity Leadership Program ceremony. =D
